That had obviously ticked off Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) Chairperson Pahlaj Nihalani.
Now, that stray incident is having a domino effect.
We hear, after Pahlaj learnt about the NH 10 mischief, he asked his team to look into the matter. And what did they find?
Shockingly, in the recent past, many filmmakers have allegedly sent their films to other countries, without the cuts suggested by the Censor Board. They have flouted the certification rules and screened the uncensored version of their movies in these countries with fake certificates.
On discovering this, Pahlaj was naturally infuriated.
No small measures for him. The Chairperson has directly sought the help of CBI to tackle the situation.
Yes, the CBI has now come into the picture. Some of the leading production houses and distribution companies have come under the scanner. This should send shivers down the spine of many a filmmaker.
Pahlaj confirmed the development. He told SpotboyE.com, "This menace of screening films abroad with bogus certificates has to come to an end. We have launched a CBI probe into the matter. The results are awaited."
